Long-distance move from New York to South Carolina

Do Not Use This Unethical Company.

Told furniture would be delivered in 3-5 days.  Furniture picked up 8/24, delivered on 9/17. Every time I called they said 3-5 days.  Only one person showed up to deliver extremely large furniture to a two story house.  My family spent 2 hours helping lift furniture. Driver arrived 9/17/2014 after  7pm.  While the time was acceptable, only one person showed up.  The driver asked had his helped arrive.  His company contact told him that they forgot to send helper. The person was not able to move the furniture alone.   My family and I spent 2 hours helping the driver move the large piece upstairs.  This was totally unacceptable because I informed John at Top Priority that the furniture had to be placed in a room upstairs. Upon inspection of the items, the glass shelves were missing from the dresser stand and a night table had a large chunk of wood missing from the top. The cover it was wrapped in had a hole in the same area. I contacted John at Top Priority on 9/18/2014 at 10:26 am moving to inform him of my experience.  He scoffed at me for talking too long to complain. After I got him to listen to me, he finally realized that my compliant was less 24 hours old.  He did not know that my furniture just came the evening before.  I left my name and number for his manager to contact me.  At the time of this letter he has not return my calls. I tried filing a claim for my missing shelves and damaged night table. I cannot file a claim process because TP moving is having financial problems with the insurance company.  I was told 8 weeks ago that they would fix their issues, but I cannot follow up because TP moving wills not my answer calls.  I tried to work with my credit card company but they cannot help because max reimbursement is only 60 cents a pound.  Basically I will not use this company again and warn customers to believe the reviews about this company.  John told me his competitors wrote these reviews due to their low prices.  While I cannot attest to the validity of his statement, I do agree this is a not a reputable company that values quality and return business. They pitch a low ball price and sacrifice quality for volume. Also I am a real customer who is really disappointed with this company.  I cannot get my money back or items fixed, but at least I can WARN others about this company   'In closing this is a very UTETHICAL company and WOULD NOT USE or RECOMMENDS them to anyone.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Texas

Do not use Top Priority Moving!

I have moved several times in the last 8 years. This was by far the worst moving experience of my life.
They quoted us at approximately $1,900 for our move from NJ to TX. We had a small two bedroom apartment and not a lot of furniture. The quote was based on cubic feet.
The movers arrived 5 hours late on the pick up day. They said the truck wouldn't start. This caused us to lose $130 from our hotel booking that evening, because we couldn't leave on time. I called the customer service rep and told her the situation, and asked for some kind of discount to cover this loss that was incurred on our end due to their poor service. She said that the owner (Dave) would contact me. He has not.
They loaded up all of our belongings and furniture and then the new cost was $4,400. I knew this was a scam, but what was I to do? They had all of our stuff in the truck already. I chose not to fight this one.
Fast forward. We are now in our new home in Texas. We called customer service to ask when our belongings would arrive. They told us it would arrive "tomorrow". This was on Tuesday. They gave us the truck driver's number and told us to call him to ask the specific time. My wife called him. His name was Jonathan. He was rude and obnoxious when my wife asked what time he would arrive tomorrow. He snapped back telling her he wouldn't be there until Sunday and he didn't know what customer service was talking about.
The truck arrives on Sunday.
The driver gets out to assess the path to the apartment. It is a short walk into the building. We have an elevator and our apartment is located about 30-40 feet from the elevator.
He immediately starts to tell us about all the extra fees that he has to charge us. He said (this is verbatim) "You expect me to carry up the elevator and all this way for free? You have to pay something extra."
This time I fought it.
I got him to have his workers unload and bring eveything to our apartment without the extra fees. However he instructed his workers to bring our belongings up and leave it at the top of the elevator, and not bring it to our apartment.
At this point, my wife and I did most of the moving.
They broke and damaged several items. See the pictures for just two examples. I would include many more, but I am only able to upload two photos with this review.
And here is the finale. While the movers were bringing our things into our apartment. I took measurements of the space in the truck where our belongings were stored. It measured 8'3"(length), 5'9"(width), 10"(height). That's a total of 475.2 cubic feet. The estimate was for $3.50 per cubic foot. The total cost should have been $1,663.20. They charged me $4,400.
This is an honest and accurate review of our experience with Top Priority Moving and Storage.
I have chosen not to call the owners and argue with them or attempt to get a refund. I think it is more effective for people to writ these types of reviews so other customers can learn who the bad companies are.
Do not use Top Priority Moving and Storage.
I've learned that most moving companies operate this way. They sucker you in on a low estimate. Then they jack the final costs once you are in a position where you can't do anything (they have your belongings in their truck).
Go with a reputable company.

Official company response

We were not made aware of the problem until we saw this complaint because the customer didn't inform us. In regards to the damage all the customer had to do was file a claim and they will be compensated because the service included limited liability insurance coverage. The customer was charged for packing services which changed the price. On the contract it clearly states in writing all the additional fees including long carry so the customer is informed. The customer refused to pay the fee but the driver should have been more professional. Instead of running to the internet the customer could of just called us and the situation would of been handled much differently. We do apologize the delivery wasn't handled in a professional manner and the driver has been reprimanded and all drivers were reminded of our policies to avoid this situation from happening to any other customers.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Ohio

Scam Scam Scam!!

If you want a safe, drama-free, scam-free moving experience, please start looking for a different company now because Top Priority is not for you. I live in Philadelphia and Iencounter many unprofessional businesses everyday and not once have I been pushed so far that I have to write a review. I never write reviews and I don’t usually care for them (well, maybe I should have look up this company before). To start, this company called me because a third party company emailed them my request for moving my mom’s stuff from Philadelphia to Ohio and from the start I should have recognized the signs (totally ignored them because I needed somebody very bad). They called me from several area codes, disguising themselves as different companies with higher prices. I saw through this but I just ignore it because I just wanted the stuff moved. Stupid me. The driver who was coming to pick up the stuff was 3 hours late but he was nice enough to call me about 15 mins to the arrival time to tell me he will be late. It was very inconvenient since I had a business dinner planned, but I was very appreciative that he called. He was a very nice young guy, very polite. When he got there, he informed me that it would cost me $500 extra. This was after Top Priority and I overestimated the quote over the phone (to avoid any extra charges). I asked them over and over again if there are any hidden charges and they said no. They even said, I may be paying lower than what we estimated. So, I told the guy, I am a student and do not have extra $500. After several phone calls to god knows whom, he finally agreed to take $300 off. I knew this was a scam but I had no choice but to pay up. About 45 mins later, he handed me his phone to talk to his boss. This “boss” asked me if I can give the 70% (about $840) to them in cash instead of the check we agreed on. When I said, I can’t leave my house to two strangers to go get  $840 from the ATM, he said “why don’t you give us the total amount in check now”. I was very confused to why he will even ask me to do that. When I refused, he laughed and hanged up on me. The boss told me, he was on his way to Ohio that night and will deliver the stuff the next day. My mother and I both were happy about that but they were no show (leaving my mom to sit home all day waiting for them). They showed up the next day and told my mom it will cost her extra $250 for them to drop the stuff off. When my mom refused, they said they threaten to drop the stuff in the parking lot of her house and leave. My mom then called me, all hysterical to send her money. I asked her to let me talk to the driver. The driver was rude and told me he basically don’t give a [EDIT] what I have to say and hanged up on me. I was very upset, so I called their main office. Candice (the representative) didn’t even let me finish telling her the problem but turned the phone over to her “supervisor”. This so-called supervisor is the most unprofessional person I’ve ever dealt with. He was cursing the whole time I was trying to explain the situation to him, he called me a liar (and when I asked him why he is calling me a liar, he said because I called him one…unbelievable), he said to me “ I don’t know where you are from (referring to my accent) but here people understand how to read contracts” (Funny thing is, I am a highly educated person who jobs includes writing an reading contracts all the time). He also claimed, in his 25 years of doing this job, he had never had anybody complain about his services but me.  That just made me laugh. Anyway, after 30 mins on the phone with him, I got tired of all the insults and hanged up. After an hour stand off, the drivers finally agreed to put my mom’s stuff in her house, only if she gives them the 30% left ($360). My mom knew better and refused. With nothing else left for them to do, they went ahead and put my mom stuff in the house. The story didn’t end there… these drivers saw all the things they have damaged and attempted to convince my mom to let them throw the damaged goods away. There were two dressers which were completely damaged, they broke her expensive wooden TV stand, loss pieces of the bed frame and worst of all soaked the mattress in god knows what. The mattress is useless now (since my mom have no way of drying it). All her expensive equipments became useless. There was no point of moving the stuff because he didn’t get any use out of them. My contract stated that insurance was included in the fee I paid. I called these people like 20 times and they keep saying they will put in a claim for me. Seven months now, NOTHING!!. I have sent several emails and all have been ignored. I have pictures of the things they broke. I am still considering legal action against these people. It’s going to happen.

Official company response

The customer was picked up on April 27 and delivered on April 29 as they requested so we were not late. On the pickup and delivery all customers have the option of filling out a questionnaire that reflects feedback on the experience with the company and he had nothing but positive things to say from start to finish. The customer wrote this review out of spite. He wanted a receipt for payment of his move which was provided to him. He said the amount was wrong because he claimed to pay more than what was on the receipt. The customer was charged for a long carry fee and was given a separate receipt for that payment so we provided proof of everything that was charged. The customer called using a different name and asked us to change the paperwork to reflect the total combined price because he didn't want to submit the secondary receipt. We can not alter documents but told customer we will send him an updated quote so he can submit the new receipt to his company so he can be reimbursed by his company but he goes off the deep end and starts writing negative reviews about us after he himself said how well the move was and there was no problems. If he had called and provided his correct name when he made his request for the receipt this could of been resolved but we are not just going to give out customer's information to somebody that is not the customer or authorized in regards to the move. That is just common sense. He is being spiteful because of a receipt. SMH.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Tennessee

Liars!

This company is entirely unprofessional, and they are liars.  I was advised that a deposit was refundable.  After scheduling a move, I read all of the atrocious reviews of this company online, saying that they were untruthful and lied to get customers to sign up.  I immediately scheduled another moving company and called my representative at Top Priority, Candice, back.  She advised me that the move was cancelled and that I would be receiving my deposit back. Today, two weeks later, I received a phone call from them to confirm my move information.  When I told them that I had called Candice back to cancel, I was spoken to very rudely and told that all deposits are non-refundable.  When I asked to speak to Candice, I was told she wasn't in the office, and when I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that no one else except this extraordinarily rude receptionist was working.Unfortunately, all of the negative reviews I read are true.  They are rude, care very little about customer satisfaction, they lie to customers, and clearly think that they can speak to people how ever they would like.  DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!  They WILL lie to you.

Top Priority Moving and Storage.

It's a scam, don't use them. The only review on here that's positive is fake. They essentially stole from me and I had to contact my bank. I also contacted a bunch of other entities to look into them.. what they'll really be able to do, I'm not so sure, but hopefully something will pan out. So, I'm waiting for a refund of the $100 "deposit" they took from me.  They never showed up, called, or offered an apology or explanation either, by the way. The next day, when I got "Tammy" on the phone, she played dumb. OK, so $100 you say, big deal.. but it's the principle of course, haha.  I really hate lying scammers like this, so if this review serves to warn anyone at all about this fake company, hopefully I've done my part.  Thanks All. Oh, and "Top Priority," please don't respond to this post with a bogus message like the ones above, anyone reading this knows that you're grifters by now.

Items Never Delivered Still Waiting.

Pick up in July 2014. It is now 10/2014 and I have not received my shipment. I call and a lady named Renee from billing picks up. She is not rude but can't seem to be able to help me. She states she will have someone call me back and no one calls me back. I am really hoping these people come through and redeem themselves. I have already filed a complaint to the authorities of transportation and am now seeking legal advice. I still have hope they will come through and call me back with my date of delivery. I will keep you posted as to what happened with my shipment.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Total Disasster of a Company.

False estimates provided to win business and actual cost doubled upon pickup. Signed a contract to move my household goods from NYC to Mia with 30 day free storage. They scheduled delivery prior to me requesting delivery then claimed my storage is now void because I asked the to deliver. They are now holding my stuff ransom until I pay storage fees and rede livery fees. It's been 3 weeks now and I still don't have my goods. I have young kids and this is a terrible time for my family because of these ppl. They say they will call and never do, they have terrible customer service and no commitment to making the customer a "Top Priority" avoid them if you can. Bunch of cowboys and lack of professionalism from top to bottom.
